Kira Koch

Despite her young age of 13, Kira Elisabeth Koch is already a renowned violin virtuoso who is in demand internationally as a soloist. She has played with the Accademia d'Archi Arrigoni Orchestra, the FVG Orchestra Venice and the Undergroud Youth Orchestra Athens. She has won many national competitions, including several first prizes at the "Jugend musiziert" competition, the "Carl-Schröder Competition" and the Dussmann Competition. In addition, she has won international prizes such as at the International Competition "Young Ludwig Berlin", the Kocian Competition in the Czech Republic and the "Il piccolo violino magico 2022". Since August 2020 Kira is a student at the Carl-Philipp-Emanuel-Bach-Gymnasium and since 2022 also a young student of the "Julius-Stern-Institute" at the University of the Arts (UdK). Since the season 2022/23 she is concertmaster of the children's orchestra of the Staatsoper Berlin. Kira was born in Berlin in 2010 and comes from a family with German, Romanian, Hungarian and Japanese roots. She started playing the violin at the age of 5. She received her first violin lessons from Michiko Iiyoshi, and since 2017 she has been taught by Michiko Feuerlein and receives talent development from Musikwerkstatt Eden in Oranienburg. Before her 6th birthday she won the 1st prize at "Jugend musiziert" with full points. In 2019 and 2020, further first prizes followed at the "Jugend musiziert" competition as a soloist and in the scoring for string duo in duo with piano. In 2020 and 2021, she won a first prize and a promotional prize at the nationwide Carl Schröder Competition in Sondershausen. She won 2nd prize at the 2020 Young Ludwig International Competition and 3rd prize at the 2021 Kocian International Competition. At the Dussmann Competition 2021 she won the 1st prize. At this year's "Jugend musiziert" competition, she won 1st prize in the state competition. At the international violin competition "Il piccolo violino magico 2022" she won the 3rd prize. She made her orchestral debut as a soloist at the age of 7 with the orchestra "Concerto" of the Eden Music Workshop. Since 2020 she has been a violinist in the children's orchestra of the Staatsoper Unter den Linden, since 2022 as concertmaster. In 2021 Kira participated in the exchange project "Young Classic Dialog" and was selected for the concert series "Young Talents" at the Musical Instruments Museum.
